Manfred Pichler – AmOs  

Rodil se je leta 1940 v Celovcu. Študiral je v Münchnu, na Dunaju in v Bielefeldu in je fotografski umetnik. Njegova strategija uprizarjanja se osredotoča predvsem na uprizoritve objekta in slike in se komajda ozira na stil iskanja in občutenja realnosti prostora in časa.

Kar zanima Manfreda Pichlerja v svojih postavitvah, ni samo prikaz objekta ali slike, ampak večkrat tudi njegova konstrukcija in izdelava. Njegove uprizoritve so nadaljne predelave njegovega slikovnega materiala (in včasih tudi slikovnega materiala drugih).  Slike (serije, cikluse ali sestavljena slike) postavi v kontekst z drugimi slikami ali naredi diptih z drugo sliko ali tekstom. Povezava slike in teksta je ena njegovih principov strukturiranja: tekst zmanjša široki spekter možnih interpretacij objekta v sporočilo, ki je lažje razumljivo. Sporočila v delu Pichlerja so hkrati estetska (pripovedna) in politična (želeča sprememb). Tam, kjer so estetske vrednote v ospredju, so njegova dela izključno konotativna, estetsko bogata, a nikoli odvečna.

Sodeloval je na številnih skupinskih in samostojnih razstavah v tujini in v Avstriji. Izdal je nekaj knjig in bil za svoje delo tudi večkrat nagrajen. Živi in dela v Vrbi ob Vrbskem jezeru.

Manfred Pichler – AmOs  

Manfred Pichler was born in 1940, in Klagenfurt, Austria. He studied in Munich, Vienna and Bielefeld and is a photographic performer. His staging strategies are executed mainly as presentations of objects and images and are scarcely geared to the style of searching and finding, or of scanning a space-time reality.

What matters for Manfred Pichler in his presentations of objects is not only a display of the object of the picture, but sometimes also of its structure and fabrication. His presentations of pictures are a subsequent processing of his own pictorial material (and occasionally also of pictures by others). He places the picture (as a series, a cycle or a tableau) in a combinable context with other pictures or combines it (as a double picture) with another picture or with a text. The nexus of picture and text is one of his principles of structuring: The text reduces the wide spectre of possible interpretations inherent in the picture to a message that is more easily comprehensible. The message immanent in the works of Manfred Pichler have both an aesthetic (interpretive) and – aiming at change – a political function. Wherever their aesthetic function has priority for him, his works are exclusively connotative, aesthetically abundant, yet never redundant.”
